Background:
Maxe (Pty) ltd is the foundational member of the Autovest Group (SA Canopy; Bucco; Rhino linings; Auto Armor) Maxe is a market leading stainless steel vehicle accessory brand and has been so for many years.
As a result of overall premium quality and inherent value, the ‘Maxe’ brand is demanded by customers by name.
Maxe bars are of manufactured in premium grade (304 marine grade) stainless steel.
Maxe pride themselves in the level of Research and Development (R+D). We have a formidable team of eight engineers in our development team and Maxe offer testing and support like no other company nationally.
Maxe have been producing stainless steel accessories for the LCV and SUV markets plus have been manufacturing TRUCK bars for a wide range of OE truck Brands (Volvo; MAN; Scania; Freightliner; UD; and others) – for many years. Maxe Truck bars have until recently been sold to one sole distributor who then on-sold the bars and undertook truck marketing entirely on their own. This sole distributorship arrangement is no longer in place and Maxe have now embarked on a strategy of continuing to produce but to now also undertake the truck marketing directly with dealers and end-users (similar to what we have been doing for years with the other market segments).
Maxe is the only South African company which offers mechanical and simulated Airbag Compatibility (ABC) testing as well as durability and other quality founded testing. Purpose of ABC testing: All Nudges are tested to specific criteria with four key outcomes that need to be achieved in order to certify the Nudge as Air Bag Compatible: (i) Static FEA (ii) Sinusoidal Test (iii) Advanced FEA (iv)Pendulum test.
These tests are performed independently and outsourced to specialist service providers located in Cape Town, Johannesburg, Durban and Australia. Example: The Static FEA is a simulated computerised programme that identifies the stress points on the brackets at impact and the impact bad off-road conditions have on the durability of the brackets, the Static FEA forms the foundation of our bracket design.
As mentioned above, no other SA company offer such in depth development and testing and thus are able to offer little if anything to compare to Maxe in South Africa.
Maxe already have a successful national distribution footprint with overnight delivery to greater Gauteng area and other major centres. Technical and sales support offered nationally.
Maxe produce and supply predominantly Stainless Steel products, however, we supply mild steel bars through our sister company “Kilber” who are also a manufacturing company.
Success and Approvals by other OEM’s:
The key to the success of Maxe (Pty) Ltd is the fact that our product is broadly OE approved and is sold as an approved vehicle accessory (across various vehicle models and brands). We currently supply approved product to the following OE’S in South Africa:

General Motors - VWSA
Hyundai SA - Kia SA
Mitsubishi / Daihatsu - Renault SA
GWM - Nissan SA
The above approvals all hinge directly on the value added ‘ABC’ and durability tests done to ensure the Maxe product is aligned with the quality and engineering integrity of the various OE’s
brand/models overall. OE approved product is branded “OE approved” and marketed and sold within their after-market structure across their national dealer network. The quality of the Maxe product, ‘ABC’ test plus successful practical durability testing by OE’s over thousands of kilometres (vehicles fitted with bars and tested) have been the key to Maxe securing us the necessary
approvals across the board. OE’s have been more than happy with the level of Maxe development and testing presented.
Manufacturing Highlights:
Local manufacturing plant in Pinetown Kwa-Zulu Natal (ISO certified; BEE level 4) Plant in excess of 8000 sqm’s with over 320 staff Maxe produce and supply on average 9000 bars per month nationally across various brands Maxe have been a respected and successful producer of TRUCK bars for many years. ‘Kilber’ mild steel plant in Alrode (sister company within Autovest Ltd).
MAXE Truck Marketing:
Maxe continue to manufacture heavy duty truck bars (and have been doing so for eight years) but in addition – have now embarked on marketing the bars themselves. Maxe now offer you the option of ordering bars directly from Maxe inclusive of fitment (included in the price of the bar/s). Maxe have already structured fitment support teams in Durban and Johannesburg staffed with technically capable fitters with the appropriate fitment experience. These teams are in place.
In terms of Maxe’s commencement with the marketing of truck bars, we have commenced a focus on Freightliner and Scania however will soon be releasing and offering supply + fitting of other products (Volvo; UD; MAN; etc.).
Maxe have been producing bars for a wide range of brands but until now not marketing same themselves. Maxe offer you the opportunity of a highly skilled Research and Development team.
